July 4- Reintroducing sugar and fruit back in!
I went without sugar in any form ( other than from veg juices) for about 2.5 weeks. I added back cane sugar in the form of PC gluten free chocolate chip cookies. Man they are good! Very sweet though. I have ate 1 a night, stopping myself from the urge to down them all. I have also introduced bananas, strawberries and raspberry back. So far so good.
Have you heard of the low FODMAPS diet? This idea has got me thinking. Basically it says people with stomach issues should limit different types of sugars and short chain carbohydrates because they cause a reaction in your stomach. Wikipedia expains it better
"FODMAPs are short chain carbohydrates and monosaccharides that are poorly absorbed in the small intestine, including fructans, galactans, fructose and polyols. The term is an acronym, deriving from "Fermentable, Oligo-, Di-, Mono-saccharides And Polyols".I purchased the FODMAPS app in ITunes, as I am always looking for easy ways to remember what to eat. Its really helpful because it tells you how much of something you can eat before expecting a reaction. The more of the Yellow and Red foods you eat in a day, the worse reaction. I am just happy because it doesnt fully restrict sugars and other foods I love! Although they say that we can eat some types of dairy and after not consuming it for 3 years I am afraid to try...
The restriction of FODMAPs from the diet has been found to have a beneficial effect for sufferers of irritable bowel syndrome and other functional gut disorders. The low FODMAP diet was developed at Monash University in Melbourne.[1]"
June 18- NO SUGAR!!!!! and a juicer
1 week I have been Dairy, Gluten and Sugar Free! Well I have been dairy free for about 3 years and gluten free for around a month. The sugar may have been the hardest to get off of... and I hardly consider myself a sugar addict. Life without fruit and cliff bars has proved to be hardest.
I bought a juicer to give me some nutrients during the day without the fiber and I am very happy with it! I need to work on the combinations of veg tho.
Tonight I am reintroducing my rice protein powder... it has 1 gram of sugar and the sugar is rice syrup solids. Probably should have gone for something more natural but it was either or a Cliff bar with way more ingredients!!!!
We will see what happens tomorrow.
June 17- I feel like the Chia seeds are working well to help stop things from going south.
June 9 - I just stumbled upon the Daiya website. It will defiantly be a good resource for recipes.

June 9 - So far so good I don't feel any worse because of the chia seeds.I have been taking them usually twice a day. One at breakfast and one at dinner.
I am going to try to add them during the day as well, which is where I seem to be having more problems with food.

My Chia Seed Experiment
I have recently read that chia seeds are high in soluble fiber, which I know from reading about IBS D is good!So this website http://www.no-ibs.com/blog/how-to-make-chia-gel-recipe.html says how to mix chia seeds into a gel that is taken before meals, one Tbsp.
So here I go with my Powerade bottle and the chia seeds. After shaking them they actually gel-ify very fast. I am supposed to store them in the fridge for 4-5 days max and take up to 4 Tbsp a day.
This website says before meals, my IBS Cookbook for dummies says I can have the seeds before, during or after. The IBS for Dummies cookbook also says DO NOT take your chia seeds with water / liquids for IBS-D (It would be suitable for IBS-C however).
We will see how this goes....
